Hey friends,
Welcome to my little corner of the internet — CYA Abroad! If you’ve stumbled across this blog, I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m Angelica — a single Black millennial woman from the South who loves, loves, loves to travel. Over the years, I’ve been blessed to explore 14+ countries and 2 U.S. territories (from Spain to India, Thailand, Brazil, and beyond) and every trip has added a new layer to who I am.
After graduating from Howard University 💙🦬❤️ (the best HBCU, let’s be clear! 😉), I spent 13 years working at the only company I’d ever known since college. Recently, I made the leap and stepped away. And with that transition came a big question: What would it look like to truly embrace life before jumping back into corporate America and the 9-to-5 grind?
For me, the answer was simple: TRAVEL!
So I started CYA! — not just as a brand, but as a way to fully lean into this season of freedom, exploration, and joy.
Captivating Your Attention — What You’ll Find Here 👀
I’ve always been that friend — the one who plans the trips, finds the hidden gems, and builds the itineraries. Now, I’m opening up my playbook and sharing the journey with you. On this blog you’ll find:
- Personal storytelling — the real, unfiltered behind-the-scenes moments you won’t always see on Instagram or YouTube.
- Travel tips & essentials — from packing lists to must-have items that make the journey smoother.
- Itineraries & inspiration — curated guides you can use to plan your own adventures.
- Reflections — because travel isn’t just about where you go, it’s about what you learn along the way.
Think of this blog as me writing a letter home, keeping you updated, making you laugh, and maybe even inspiring you to book that trip you’ve been daydreaming about.
What’s Next: Eat Pray Love, Africa 2025 🛫 🌍 ✨
The big kickoff for this blog will be my upcoming Eat Pray Love: Africa Edition adventure. From September through December 2025, I’ll be exploring 8 different African countries.
You can expect weekly posts of my personal diary entries throughout this journey — everything from safari recaps and food diaries to reflections on traveling solo as a Black woman abroad. Once the Africa Diaries wraps, I’ll settle into a monthly rhythm, with a mix of stories from past travels and future adventures.
Let’s Connect 🔗
Whether you’re here to reminisce on past trips with me, cheer me on in this new season, or gather tips for your own journey — I’m excited to have you along.
So pull up a seat, grab your passport (or your vision board 😉), and let’s explore together.
And because CYA! isn’t just a blog, you can also catch the adventures @CYA.Abroad on Instagram and YouTube, where I’ll be sharing faceless POV-style videos so you feel like you’re right there beside me.
I’d love for you to leave a comment below — where’s the next place you’re dreaming of going? Let’s start building this travel community, one story at a time.
See ya abroad! 🛩️🌍
